ted's gourmet fast food - azusa

kj | Jun 13, 200612:37 AM

a few weeks ao a fellow hound shared a positive experience at a restaurant not too far from me so i wanted to give it a try and report.

as previously mentioned, this is one of many mom/pop fast food restaurants that serves a mix of american and mexican foods - from what i can see it's more mexican food , but i decided to try one of the "diner" style dinners.

it's a little larger then most of these style restaurants - i had to chuckle when i drove from my house in covina, slowly down arrow highway - i saw at least 5 food joints similar to ted's - i've been to most but none have as extensive a menu as ted's.

i ordered the fried chicken dinner ( $5.99 ) - it wasn't til after i ordered that i noticed a blue plate turkey dinenr special i would've preferred.

as mentioned before, a nice sized bowl of chicken noodle soup and a very large side salad were seved first.

the soup was a cut above campbells - decent.

the salad was very good - lettuce, clean and cold, various veggies and hard boiled egg.

4 piece fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, a grilled biscuit. it's not bad - i would say it's a cut above a denny's and for $6 - i would call it a value but don't expect gourmet !!

i'm bummed - i did not get any carrot cake....sigh - all the better since i would only get a taste ( as with the potato, biscuit and soup )

i will go back to try the turkey special but next on the local list is the fast food place next to der weinerschnitzel on arrow - i thought it was a mexican place, but when i drove by i thought i read italian on one of the signs.
