Taylor's Sausages

Swarthog | Feb 1, 2006 01:31 PM

I had a hankering for a great BBQ Link and was headed into Oakland on Friday. I remembered reading here about Taylor's and decided to seek it out. 907 Washington St. is a bit hard to find as it's smack downtown and is not a thoroughfare. My other problem is that on this Friday morning a Farmers market was going on, you guessed on Washington St.. Finding parking took a while but I managed and walked up to Taylor's located in Swan's Marketplace. I checked out everything pork and picked up #5 each of Beef and Pork Links. I then took them home and Hickory smoked them for about 3 hours. I made up some sauce and all I can say is WOW. They had that old fashioned coarse texture and juicy flavor that I remembered from BBQ joints of old. Better than any I've had lately at Doug's, Bulldog's, Everett+Jones. The young man who assisted me had heard about Chowhound and was very helpful, telling me they were freshly made with no preservatives, all this for about $3.60 a lb.
