Ate a late-lunch burger at Taylor's Refresher (Ferry Building) after a good long Union Square shopping spree on Saturday. Bottom line -- an excellent burger but it's expensive. I had the bacon bbq burger (can't recall exact name) which has bacon and an onion ring filled with blue cheese. As I love all the foregoing ingredients, I am an easy mark, but this burger was awesome. The bun was perfectly toasted and each element just came together perfectly. With a 16 oz. Bud Light I paid over $12, but it did hit the spot.
Went with a friend to Home for dinner Sunday night. Friend had the Early Bird Special (or as I call it, the Old Man Special) and I had the burger (big red meat weekend for me I guess). I lamented the fact that their previous Sunday night special, a fantastic sloppy joe with slaw and fries, is gone from the menu. I really loved that sloppy joe. The OMS was fine but nothing spectacular; mixed greens followed by a pasta-with-chicken dish, and a scoop of melon sorbet for dessert. Comes with a glass of wine for $10.99 so a good value, but nothing extraordinary. The burger was also fine, but following my Taylor's Refresher on Saturday I can barely even remember it.
Home does great cheap ($3) cocktail specials every night; Sunday boasts an apple martini that I can heartily recommend.
