I just received my spring newsletter from Union Square Cafe in NYC. The owner, Danny Meyer, also owns a BBQ place in NYC--Blue Smoke. Meyer mentions in the newsletter that he and executive chef Michael Romano had been to the Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival and spent a couple of days on the road tasting BBQ with Blue Smoke chef Kenny Callaghan. They raved about a place in Taylor--Vencil Mares-- as having "etheral brisket." I have never heard of this place but understand it is very small and located under the overpass very near Muellar's. Anyone have any info on this place? If not, some of you Austin Hounds better check it out ASAP!
