I highly recommend this restaurant, which opened last year. The address is 454 South Broadway in Hicksville. It's one block south of--and one notch above--House of Dosas.
The food is well-prepared, with fresh product and excellent sauces based on multiple fonds, not on a single generic fond.
Catfish curry was a standout dish, as was the mixed grill of several preparations of chicken. Lamb biryani is good--potentally very good--although on one occasion the lamb in the dish was dry, on another the pepper was out of balance (to my taste). Among the standout breads are the Mint Nan, Gobhi Paratha, and Cheese Paratha.
As an aside to the locals, this place needs our support. It's family run and can use the business.
Wine geeks should note that you can BYO with no corkage charged. (You might want to bring your own stemware.)
