Tavern on the water

chris | May 1, 2006 10:10 AM

I stopped by tavern on the water yesterday for a few drinks and a bite to eat and the place was jumping. it took about a 30 minute wait to be seated. once seated it ook 25 minutes for our drinks. we ordered an app of oven roasted oysters. 35 more minutes go by and the table next to which sat down 10 minutes later than us is served their apps. Finally the manager notices us still sitting with no food and apologizes for the wait and literally throws down a cup of chowder at us and says "you look hungry its on the house" with a side of attitude. About 5 minutes later we get the oysters and they are freezing cold and the manager comps those too. another 15 minutes pass and we get our meals a seafood platter that was ok but had clam srips instead of bellies and a salad with lobstar and tuna that was edible. The table next to us got a burger which the cheese still had the wrapper stuck to it, the manager went over to the table and removed the wrapper and asked the man if he would like another beer on the house! but never offered to make another burger! I don't know what happened to this place as I've had pretty good experiences in the past. Needless to say next time I'll enjoy the ocean views with my IPA and nothing else.
