Tater Tots - DC Chowish?

Eric | Jun 22, 2005 10:30 AM

I have noticed that a lot of "so don't care about being cool that it's cool" dc restau-bars - i.e., Tonic, Tom Tom, etc. - serve Tater Tots with a lot of their meals. Now, it had been a while but I ate there and had some and they were GOOD. I mean, I remember liking Tots when I was little, but - gosh, those were some good tots.

I'm just wondering if there are other Tot-serving spots I should know about... I'm starting to kinda jones for some tots.

FYI for you home chefs... smooshing up tots in a frying pan = quick and easy hash browns. Seems ridiculously obvious now that I know about it but... i wouldn't have thought to do it before, and that too is delicious.

Another breakfast-type thing I learned - you can take home soft shell crabs and make a DELICIOUS breakfast omelette with them, but you have to heat them in a dry pan (i.e., not all buttery) or else the breading will soak up all of the butter/oil and get greasy instead of crisp. Save the butter until right before the eggs go in.
