Tasty Strawberries - Granite Bay

Gayla | Aug 9, 2003 06:44 PM

I'm up visiting my sister here in lovely (and very warm) Granite Bay, just outside of Roseville. We picked up 3 baskets (for $3.75) of very sweet, very tasty Chandler strawberries yesterday from the roadside stand at the intersection of Barton Rd. and Douglas.

They are small, needed NO additional sweetening (imagine that, ripened on the vine and sweet), and were not in the least bit woody. They were served last night over ice cream along with See's Candy's chocolate sauce and See's Bourdeaux Sauce. Simply great.

We also picked up a basket of very fresh, very ripe small blackberries that we had for breakfast this morning. We got these from Otow Farms, location of which is a mystery to me, sorry, but off Barton Rd. very close (1 or 2 miles?) to the strawberry stand.
