Tasty Q's Deep Fried Turkey--Report

ChineseChou | Nov 28, 2004 03:44 PM

So I ordered a deep fried turkey from Tasty Q's on Crenshaw. I had a turkey sandwich before I ordered the turkey just to see what it tasted like. It seemed fine. I ordered it the week before T-day, Wednesday, I think. Anyway, the owner specifically told me to show up on 11/23 because he was trying to space out the pick-up orders so they wouldn't get jammed the day before T-day. Fine. I didn't particularly want to store it in my fridge, but whatever. I show up at 3 or 4 pm on 11/23. No turkey. They said they were running behind and didn't have it ready. Fine, I would normally demand a turkey but they were really nice and appeared to be trying hard to keep up with the many many orders. And I should have called before hand. They told me I could come back at 8 pm. I told them I'd come tomorrow. I show up at 3 pm on 11/24. No turkey. I nearly exploded. They eventually gave me a turkey. I don't know if it was someone else's turkey or if it was just a spare.

The turkey was just eeehhhh. Maybe deep fried turkey is meant to be eaten straight from the frier and not reheated 2 days after it's been fried. In any event, it was not as moist as I thought it would be and while fairly flavorful, not something I would do again, esp. given the hassle and $40 price tag.
