Any suggestions for either make-ahead or on-site classy dinner eats for 30 people?
Yes, 30! It's my birthday party (coincidentally, my 30th) in a few weeks at a rented house four hours away and everyone's expecting delicious food but I don't want to spend my whole birthday weekend cooking.
I don't mind doing some amount of prep in advance though.
One idea I had was to make lasagna. However, I usually make a variation on the famed NY Times recipe and it would take me eons to make enough for 30 people.
Any other ideas? We'll be in Lake Tahoe so it should be warm food (as opposed to the easy solution of grazing on cold stuff).
Also, I'm not sure how big the oven is, and there's not a big barbecue on site.
