When first, Fantasy eatery in Scarborough, then Judy's Cuisine in Richmond Hill successively went out of business. Lovers of Cantonese Wok-Hay stirred fry cooking were deprived of a number of really fine go-to places. Sadly this trend will continue with the impending closing of Scarborough's Maple Yip in June. As such, any comparable replacement will be eagerly welcome with open arms.
This weekend, after hearing rave reviews from a number of friends and relatives about the rejuvenation and transformation of this Hong Kong Style cafe into a wok-hay specialist, I was excited to give it a try. My conclusions?! Though 'Tasty Delight ' might not be the perfect replacement for the above captioned long-time iconic favorites, the food coming out of their pretty competent kitchen were indeed mighty 'tasty' and 'delightful'. Price point was also very reasonable for such fine quality food.
Dishes we ordered include:
- Braised spinach with duo of salted duck eggs and thousand year eggs
- Rose essence herbed soya sauce free range chicken.
- Stirred fry beef with Chinese Kale ( Gai Lan )
- Stewed meaty pork cartilage.
- Complimentary creamy diced taro and sago rice dessert soup.
I am glad I can finally add a new worthy addition to my slowly dwindling list of competent Cantonese wok-hay stirred fry places.
