Tasty Curry is ... tasty

svL | Jan 18, 200410:06 PM

Last night, after an early movie, we went to our default Indian take-out, Naan n Curry on Irving. Unfortunately it was packed to the gills with the line well out the door. Looked like a 20 minute wait to just order! So we took a chance on another newish curry joint around the corner, Tasty Curry, that I read some posts on here a few months ago. It was fairly full but nothing like NnC.

It turned out to be very good, perhaps better than NnC. Relative to NnC, it's like a clone. Prices and menu are very similar. The dining room is smaller. They don't seem to have a liquor license, so you can probably BYOB.

We ordered a ton of stuff, just like we do at NnC. The naan at NnC is thinner and we thought better. However, the curry flavors at Tasty were somewhat bolder and spicier than NnC. I especially liked Bengan Bhartha (eggplant in a spicy sauce; $3.99) and the Lamb Curry ($4.99) which was fairly spicy-hot. But all the dishes we sampled were good, so it's hard to go wrong.

Tasty Curry is at 1375 9th Ave between Irving and Judah.
