When it tastes like goat cheese, but isn't?

tacosandbeer | Jun 6, 201502:56 PM     10

Just got back from a lovely meal out, with one small hiccup. I ordered a tempura zucchini blossom that was supposed to be stuffed with ricotta, lemon zest and pine nuts. It was gorgeously presently and very well executed, and most definitely tasted of goat cheese. It's one of the few flavors I really, really don't care for.
I asked the server if I had just missed it on the menu, and she assured me that there was none in the dish. She checked with the kitchen and told me that the chef used Parmesan in the ricotta filling, and that, along with the lemon and pine nuts, could be mistaken for goat cheese.
I let it go, but quietly maintain my stance that someone back in the kitchen ran short of ricotta and topped up tonight's filling with goat cheese. DH believes the Parmesan-lemon-pine nut story. I would love to hear your thoughts! (There's another night out riding on whether more Chowhounds agree with me, or with him.)
