Got down to the Taste of Tribeca at 1:30, and the ticket table on the East side mumbled "Sold out." Went over to the West side table, the whole scene was much bigger this year, even more crowded than usual, they mumbled the same thing, "Sold Out." That's a first, and particularly interesting since the fare last year was (IMO) maybe not quite up to the quality of previous years. Immediately made my way over to the Pakistan Tea House, Church Street between Duane and Reade, had a combo plate with fine basmati rice, very tasty cabbage, spicy chick-peas, and a good (if not great) spicy chicken curry for $5.00. Folks, it sure wasn't Mina, but it was totally tasty and totally satisfying. If you need a spicy fix and you're in the neighborhood, you can't do better for the money. Nice folks behind the counter, too.
