The "Taste of Solvang" was held today in fairly good weather, just a little rain at times.
There were 50 stops on the map, with the event lasting from 11-4. The stops were a collection of stores, bakeries, restaurants, and such. Probably the best stop was the Aquavit stop at the Bit O'Denmark reaturant where the item was a shot of Aquavit with a complimentary glass. The glass is similar to a large shot glass with a Aquavit symbol on the side. Very nice!I gave mine to my friend Lisa who invited me over for a shot of Tequila in the glass next week.
At another restaurants (The Heidelberg Inn), the meal was slices of Danish sausage,Bratwurts,Knackwurst, red cabbage, sauerkraut, and some boiled potatoes. Very good.Another restaurant had Sausage kabobs served with fried onions and green peppers. The bakeries had small pastries, slices of apple bread, and Danish cookies.
There were two stops that offered one Ableskiver, covered with jam and powdered sugar. Abelskivers are Danish fried doughnuts usually covered with jam and sugar.Another had Belgian waffles.
The non -restaurants usually had coffee, cookies, chocolates, etc.Beer was offered at a couple of stops. The feeling I got was that of being at Costco and trying the samples.
All in all, worth $25.
