A long long time ago in a shopping center far far away (Diamond Plaza in Rowland Heights), the enigmatic Green Village opened up one of its Shanghai style branches. Like all of its other branches, it closed down, but this one left a legacy of sorts with a succession of Shanghai style restaurants at that location. (Or maybe there's a lease covenant requiring the space to be occupied by a Shanghai style place.) More recently it was the home of Suit Ur Buds, perhaps the most ill-suitedly named Chinese restaurants among the many contenders for that crown.. (I never figured out if the name meant you would find their food satisfactory or if it was a good place to dine with friends.) In any event, we now have an ordinarily named Shanghai restaurant here, Taste of Shanghai. Owner statement on Yelp says they originally opened up in Monterey Park in 2000 and have now moved east. (Wonder if that was Gourmet Delight, which fits the profile, and recently closed their successor Arcadia location.) My primary comment is that the menu prices appear kind of pricey, aside from lunch specials, but that the minced fish with pine nuts in lettuce cups (which was on the old Gourmet Delight menu) was actually worth the $13 tab. I'll let others who spend more time near this locale delve deeper into the menu. Taste of Shanghai is at 1390 Fullerton Road, #101.
