The CORRECT info on The Taste of Philly Event this Saturday and Sunday
Okay, we who live here in Philly understand that sometimes City sponsored events aren’t always well coordinated (well they aren’t). And The Taste of Philly event planned for 6th St. for Sat and Sunday is just one example.
After reading the pull out section in last week’s Inky (thousands of which I’m sure were distributed) I thought there had to be a typo. It mentioned that food tickets were “50 cents” and “would be sold in strips of 11 for $7.00”. Hmmmm. 11 times 50 is $5.50. right? So I waited for the next blurb and in today’s City Paper (Page 79) in the “What’s Happening” section the same info is given.
Soooooo... I call Welcome America’s office today to ask and I’m told the strips are $5.50 and that they “didn’t know where the $7.00 came from”. So far so good (I guess). We now know the price. BUT....
I asked if individual tickets would be sold and the person on phone said “no”. She also said some samples would be “3 tickets” (hence $1.50) and others might be “5 tickets” (hence, $2.50). I asked what happened if you needed one or two tickets above your 11 to buy some samples. She said “I don’t know”. Sounds like catch 22 to me. So, be forwarded, there will probably be an “ad hoc” bartering area where folks will be selling their extra tickets or buying individual ones they need to buy a “sample”.
I’ll be there to check it out – along with the great Charity Ice Cream Festival (Friday, as well as Sat and Sunday) at the Great Plaza.
So now you have the RIGHT info for the Taste of Philly event. Took some digging though. Enjoy the City while your neighbors are “downa shore”
