taste of asheville

stopped by the "taste of asheville" area at bel chere on saturday (after catching menage - they were great).

we tried a falafel sandwich from jerusalem garden (good falafel, otherwise nothing special).

the pulled pork sandwich (served with your choice of 5-6 vinegar type sauces - but the one they said was "smokin' hot" barely hit the hot level) from boudreaux's was very good.

also tried a couple things (don't know what exactly as my wife and i split up to maximize our waiting-in-line time) from the stick house (this is a new place opening soon). my wife liked it, but i didn't. the sauce on the chicken was supposed to be spicy peanut, but it was very sweet and not hot at all. the beef, while tasty, was gristly. all-in-all, everything was too sweet. i'll try 'em again after they open and get past the opening jitters.

frozen custard (vanilla and raspberry) from kamm's was the highlight.

haven't been to bel chere in years. we decided we won't go again for anything other than the music. you're better off going to one of the restaurants downtown than eating anything from the festival itself.
