Tartine update

Last night I picked up dessert at Tartine for dinner at a friend's, and we all agreed I just had to post about these desserts!

Scharffenberger chocolate pudding - wow! Close to a mousse, served with whipped cream on top and a chocolate cookie (which I didn't get to taste because I was soooooo full). Smooth, chocolatey, just the right sweetness, and pretty light. Yum. $4.00

Coconut cream and mango tart - light, fluffy coconut custard in a perfectly baked individual tart shell, thin slices of mango and coconut on top, delicious! $4.50

Strawberry tart - slices of ripe strawberry garnished with tiny flower petals, and what a surprise when we bit into this beautiful tart! Rosewater delicately flavored the custard cream filling. We couldn't get enough of this! I'm desperate to have another... The woman there told me these are seasonal, so get 'em before they disappear. $4.50

Also had a few-hours-old pain au chocolat, and was really disappointed. I had heard such good things... But the chocolate was just too bitter for me. Not semi-sweet as it should be.

Service was a lot nicer than I've experienced it at Tartine before - usually it's like an assembly line there, but this time the woman came out from behind the counter and gave recommendations (which were good ones!). An A+ experience.
