Krys's post (linked below) mentioned bread pudding, prompting me to ask this burning question: what did we SF 'hounds ever do right to deserve Tartine?
Like Krys, I have always HATED bread pudding. Then, someone brought Tartine's version to an office party and I fell in love. It was warm, soft, oozing with sugary liquid, and had some kind of fruit in it. The clincher, however, was that it had big chunks of what tasted like flan throughout the pudding. Real pudding mixed with bread pudding: a winning combination. My co-worker had to remind me it's not polite to just dig out the parts I like. He was given The Death Glare.
Does anyone else in SF make a bread pudding like that? Is it traditional, or a Tartine original? Do they have it every day?
