I just tried taro cake (the sweet kind) for the first time recently, and I loved it. The version I had was from L'Epi D'Or Bakery in Cupertino, and was comprised of sponge cake, a mashed taro filling, and whipped cream frosting. It was full of real taro flavor and not overly sweet for me.
I'm looking to get one for my mom's birthday, but before I just go straight to L'Epi D'Or, I thought I'd see if there are any other bakeries making a better version. I did a little searching and it seems like Sheng Kee and Sogo both make a taro cake - has anyone tried these? Any other recommendations for where to go, preferably in the South Bay or on the Peninsula?
