I NEED MY TARAMASALATA!! -- greek groceries?

ar | Apr 1, 2002 02:55 AM

as mentioned in the thread re: niko's -- the greek corner in north cambridge is THE place for good, cheap greek food. oh, it is so good... i don't have that much frame of reference for greek food, but i do for middle eastern (esp. lebanese food). plus, i trust my tastebuds. plus the place was packed (w/ greeks and non-greeks) the two times i went there. plus my good friend who's greek loved it. anyway. which brings me to...

my first time at the greek corner was also my first time eating taramasalata, and to put it plainly, i'm addicted. i need more, and i can't afford to keep going back and ordering just a plateful. so -- does anyone know of a good greek grocery store (or, ANY greek grocery store) in the greater cambridge/somerville/arlington/watertown area? somehow, i know of the existence (and location) of two different greek orthodox churches in cambridge/somerville, so i'm assuming that must be at least a couple around. but i don't remember seeing any in my extensive cambridge/somerville travels, and a perusal of my yellow pages comes up fruitless (mainly because the grocery section is not organized by specialty. doh.). also, my local supermarkets (star/foodmaster/mkt basket) didn't seem to have greek food in their "international" sections, but if there is a not-specifically-greek market out there somewhere that might stock tarama, or prepared taramasalata, that would be fine also. please, y'all must help me! thanks folks.
