After a hard sweaty morning of moving boxes and furniture over to my new Ventura shack, Mr. Snackish and I stumbled in to Taqueria Tepatitlan on Ventura Avenue near Park Row St. It is on the east side of the street.
This is the real chow deal. Come on over. A small, humble establishment with a friendly staff, a menu of Mexican favorites, and low prices.
Mr. S. opted for a beef tamale and a chicken sope lunch plate. He raved about the rice and beans, then about the tamale and the sope.
I took the gringo route and got a chile relleno burrito (a north-of-the-border invention), which ended up being the best chile relleno burrito in history. The relleno was a nice big sweet pasilla pepper, and as Mr. S had said, the beans and rice were perfect.
The meal plus non-alcoholic beverages was $15.
We will be going back!
