Heading back to central Phoenix from Sun City Festival and El Mirage, I took the long and slow way along Indian School Road to see if I might spot anything chow-worthy. On the north side of the road I saw the marquee for El Cora (might be spelled El Kora). At home, the food businesses named El Kora all hail from Nayarit, south of Sinaloa, and I thought this drive-in could be interesting. I made a u-turn, pulled into a parking space and dashed over to the drive-through menu board to take a look.
Here's the menu.
Offering aguachile and culichi, this felt more Sinaloa than Nayarit to me. Nayarit's pescado zarandeado shows up and if I'd had more time and some eating companions, I might have sprung for it.
Has anyone tried this place?
