Taqueria El Charro in the old Fuego's space

BTAustin | Jan 16, 201102:56 PM

Saw the sign and it looked intesting. Had a taco plate for 4.95 and a carne guisada taco for 1.59 and a Huge al pastor torta for 2.99. Ordered to go and they brought some chips (the bagged ones you mostly see these days) and sauce ( fresh with equal flavors of tomato, cilantro and salt, I'd have put more peppers in it but it was nice) to the table while i waited. Food came out pretty soon. Torta was huge, decent al pastor , a little better than what you'd get at Arandas or Arandinas, fair amount of avocado and so on, would have made a meal with some chips. Carne guisada was decent, ok flavor and no fat that I noticed. Taco shells had seen a fryer sometime recently but didn't blow me away. Still for 4.95 a good deal on the plate. Something about a 4.50 lunch special. Should be a servicible place for breakfast tacos and such if they make it in that unfornate space....
