Awesome new food truck has opened at 1112 North Greene Street in Greenville close to the airport. Homemade, perfectly grilled tortillas, great salsa and sublime lineup of standard taqueria meats, including barbacoa, lingua, tripa and carne/pollo asada. Let's start with the tripa which is typically not my favorite Mexican meat filling for a taco. Instead of the usual rubbery, slightly funky tasting tripa you get at authentic taquerias, this was meltingly tender and tasty without any off flavors. Simply put, the best Mexican-style tripa I have had in NC and worth a visit in itself. The rest of the lineup of meats were equally impressive, with the Barbacoa being my favorite. It was moist and full of flavor. The woman running the show is from Veracruz, and on top of killer tacos, she makes some of the best tamales I have ever eaten. Wrapped in banana leaves, super moist, super soft and super flavorful, these tamales make you forget the dry, starchy versions that leave many scratching their heads about why this is such a celebrated dish. They slick your mouth with uber-delicious layers of fat and flavor. I've had three salsas to accompany this great food, and they all hit high marks. Salsa rojo is orange in color and possesses huge depth of flavor. Salsa verde is very fresh tasting with nice balance of spice and acidity. Guacomole is a smooth thick liquid version with aggressive jalapeno kick. Only open Wednesdays-Sundays, typically reasonable, completely kicks ass.
