I realize quite a number of people seem to be fond of Tappo, but my experience there last night was enough to make me stay away in the future. The host wasn't very together, and made us wait 10 minutes for our table, which was already set up. The food was terrifically overpriced. My orrata, which was less-than-mediocre -- bland, full of bones, seeped in a tasteless, oily sauce, with tasteless fried potatoes and soggy asparagus -- was $26! The pricing was offensive, and I would never eat there again. The bread was rubbery, too. The decor, however, was lovely. And perhaps I got the wrong dish, but either way all the main courses were overpriced, and what my neighbors had (you generally get seated with others at a rustic table) looked equally greasy and unappealing.
