I am, as in most things, notoriously behind the culinary curve as regards trends. I'm guessing Boba has been around for years. I've only ever had Boba once before. I don't know a snow bubble from a juice jelly from a milk tea. So it was with anticipation that I sauntered over to Tapioca Express on SMB.
The space is immaculately clean and the young asian women behind the counter were quietly friendly as I considered the choices and asked many questions. I settled on a mango snow bubble with big tapiocas. Very refreshing and fun, though I wouldn't know an OK Boba from a superlative one. I also need to practice my beverage-to-tapioca ratio of inhalation. They apparently also sell snack/appetizer items like egg rolls, etc., which I'll try next time. They open around noon and close at 11:00 p.m. or midnight. I know that with many culturally diverse treats, a rustic and funky atmosphere can herald authentic preparations. Yet, I appreciated the bright and squeeky clean ambience of this place... OK, I've gone on way to long about a two dollar beverage. But give 'em a try!
