I'm planning a bachelorette party for my sister in the late spring, and for dinner I was thinking of making a reservation for either tapas or shared small plates on the UWS (or maybe the northern part of Hell's Kitchen). After dinner we'll be going out around the upper 70s/lower 80s on the west side, so I'd like to be within walking distance or a short cab ride. We live in the area, but I almost never go out on the UWS so I don't know any restaurants around there, and all of the threads I found on the topic were pretty old.
Ok details - We'll be 5-8 late 20s/early 30s women, but we are not a super loud and girly/clubbing type of group. My sister is a chef so she appreciates good food and wine. We're looking to spend around $100/person for dinner including drinks (so maybe ~$50-60 for food only).
In my online searching I found Andanada, which doesn't have great reviews on chowhound, and Bueco 95. One of the other bridesmaids said she has enjoyed Xai Xai Wine Bar (http://www.xaixaiwinebar.com/), but I haven't been able to find too many recent opinions online.
