Tapajos River Steak House review

I'll keep this short and sweet ...

Went yesterday and had the mixed grill for two (churrascaria para dois) - $18. Very friendly service - the owner/grill-master was very jovial and talked entusiastically about his food and the Metallica concert he had been to the night before. (My dining partner was at the same show, which brought it up. The owner was wearing the tour T-shirt and had seen Metallica 14 times, so if you're a fan, you might have something to talk about.)

Started the meal off with a complimentary chourico sausage - very tasty and grilled nicely over charcoal (as all meats were).

Salad bar was simple but of decent quality - potato salad was tasty and the tomatoes, onions, and watercress were all very fresh. (Really good tomatoes - kind of like smaller versions of Peter Luger's beefsteaks.)

Meat was served with fries, a couple of pieces of fried yuca and plantain, rice and beans (black or red - the black was really good and garlicky). On the plate was chicken thighs, pork, short ribs, some kind of spicy ham, and various cuts of beef. All nicely seasoned and grilled perfectly. Only problem was that they all could've been a little warmer, but they were fine.

Washed down with a couple of guarana sodas - total came to $21.50 for more food than two hungry guys could finish. Very enjoyable meal.

It's at 28 Wilson Ave, near the bend at Ferry...
