We took my Israeli/Moroccan/Iraqi sister in law to Tanjia for her birthday last night.
A brief infomercial (and I am not a shill for Jim): Thanks to ChowNews I was able to instantly find Melanie's Dec 2003 3 page review of her brother in law's birthday dinner @ Tanjia. Such a bargain for $15!
Since Melanie was so thorough in her review (see link below) I simply wanted to add my sister in law's endorsement. She always makes fun of me for making 'lazy woman's couscous'. For her it is an all day affair beginning with semolina flour. She assured me that Tanjia's couscous was the real thing. It was one of the best dishes of the evening. Several other entrees compared favorably to her mother's versions (she was a very good cook). Chowchild's favorite was the lamb kabobs.
It was a delightful, relaxing evening--delicious food, very entertaining belly dancer. I would also recommend it highly for families. One group with very young children seemed to be having as good a time as we did.
Thanks to Melanie and Chownews for the recommendation.
