Tangra Masala - Indian Chinese

tigerwoman | Apr 23, 2002 09:37 PM

Was driving by there for the zillionth time to go to Stop and Shop (best supermarket in this part of Queens) and didn't want to go shopping on an empty stomach if you know what I mean.

Decided to give the chili chicken a try. It was about 4:00 so not suprisingly the place was empty - actually they were busy snapping the stems off of those tiny firey green chilis (birdseyes I think).

He asked me how spicy I wanted it - moderate to lite was my answer - glad I didn't ask for more - because it was plenty hot for our taste - we are spice wuses admittedly. The taste was good tho - altho I was suprised at the prices - maybe because they use halal meat? THe chicken was boneless thigh - portion was reasonable but not huge by chinese restaurant standards and the dish cost $9 plus tax of course (cash only)

Would I go back - sure - would like to try some other unusual dishes. would I go out of my way to go there - probably not - but given the lack of good chinese restaurants in the area out of flushing china town it's a welcome addition.

By the by - this has been posted b-4 but Tangra Masala is on Grand Avenue right off of Queens Blvd on the South side of QB. 87-09 Grand Ave 718 803-2298
