Had a most pleasant experience at Tamari on 5th on Monday.
Chirasi was modest in size but moderatley priced. But thee chirasi and my wifes sashimi were both very fresh fish we thought. I noted a melting quailty to most of the pieces.
We did go for a final round of the 'Tamari" roll and were sort of disappointed. This was an 'inside out' roll with tuna, yellowtail and mackrel (maybe? dont remember) on the outside. Dramatic presentation but something was off...I think it was the tiny eggs/roe that you see used as garnish.
BUT the eggs in my chirashi were great, I have no idea what kind of eggs they were but they ere plump and juicy and golden brown and very tasteful.
I thought the service was way charming, he must be a partner or something because he was very good....and we had way too much sake. (decent happy hour deal)
I would go back, it wasn't a hound destination but definitly a pleasent sushi place. It soundly replaces Iron Chef House in the hts. as a sushi destination for us from now on.
Obviously it is not a BR or ultimate sushi destination - so let us not go there....
