honestly, i don't care too much for the new restaurant, her tamales were always good, not great, but it was more about the convenience, given the prices. there are many places with better tamales for cheaper, like la palma.
what i am wondering about is what restaurant she is taking over - it just says "a former central american restaurant near the corner of 16th and mission"
if "central america" includes the yucatan peninsula my guess would be kuuup on mission street, but it could also be poc chuc, or also taqueria vallarta on 16th/mission (which used to do yucatecan food in its previous incarnation), or perhaps even yucatasia (though wrong block).
if central america completely excludes mexico, then i would guess panchita's, which, if true, would make me very sad, as their pupusas were always a great late-night alternative to burritos. then again, the affiliated one on 22nd street also recently closed, so maybe they are ending operations.
