One of my friends wants to thank his family by taking them out to dim sum the day after his wedding. Two problems: (1) It will be Father's Day, and (2) He expects 20+ people but not all at the same time.
I gave him all sorts of tips on how to best secure 3 tables for dim sum in Oakland Chinatown, but now I'm rethinking this plan. Father's Day is going to be packed as soon as the restaurants open.
So maybe an alternate plan would be to just get enough dim sum for 20+ people and host a small party at home? If so, where would you recommend going in the East Bay that's decent quality and can handle that quantity? I'm guessing 120+ piece of dim sum for a crowd that size.
Plus, when I was a kid, my relatives always reheated steamed dim sum by resteaming. Does a microwave work well?
