had a terrible omakase at Taka this past sat evening. the former chef Takako is not there anymore and the omakase really suffers for it. the sushi was pretty good but i was only served 6 pieces of it. mostly straight forward stuff. the other dishes included toro tartar which was tasteless, cod pan seared which was too salty, and creative sashimi dishes that just didn't work. and at a whopping $65/pp it was a total waste of money. still upset thinking about that evening...

friday evening's omakase at Tsuki was absolutely fantastic! melt in your mouth straight-forwrd sushi as well as a few creative nigiri pieces a-la Gari although the chef claims Gari copied from him... unlike Taka all i got was sushi and only sushi and i was grateful for it. price was very reasonable as okmakase for 2 was $88. my partner stopped a few pieces shy of me so i'm thinking hers was $40 and mine $48. can't wait to go back. and for all you Tsuki ravers who haven't tried the omakase please do so. i think it is THE BEST reasonably priced omakase in all of ny...
