Went to Taj India last night for dinner and wanted to give you my experience.
It was my second trip there, with the first being to try out the lunch buffet, which I enjoyed. I thought the food was fresh, well spiced and was also impressed that the kept replenishing when needed. ( I have had issues with that in the past at India Palace ) We ordered lightly ( for us anyway!) Lamb Vindaloo, Shrimp Biryani , Nan and Keema Nan...The waiter inquired med, mild or hot? We both like very spicy food so my husband said hot..I said " Well, Vindaloo is hot" and that was the end of the conversation.
Shortly thereafter we were served. The Vindaloo looked amazing, as did the Biryani and the side of Basmatti was acceptable as well. And then we tasted them...Mother of god!!! Our eyes were watering, our mouths burning and we could hardly speak to one another...But we aren't quitters :) and figured this was a "front of the mouth hot", wait for the endorphin rush and we'd be good! So on we pressed. I'm looking over at a man that has tears streaming down his face.( and is a guy who is a serious curry head) At this point I know I'm screwed :P...When were finally able to talk we decide this it what is must feel like to be pepper sprayed..not pleasant at all. As we had asked for hot neither of us felt like we should complain and we didn't. But don't say you haven't been warned...
