Taix: no more sourdough bread!

Now I know that Taix gets, at best, mixed reviews in these quarters, but their "Soup, salad and bread" has been the Chow-Spouse's idea of comfort food for a couple of decades, it's reasonably priced, it's on the way home from downtown, they have a pretty decent wine list, and hey, it was pouring last night. Besides, any place that serves anything like close to SF sourdough bread is OK by me...

So we get there, and what arrives at the table in the bread-basket? Some Disney animator's idea of a "baguette", with about as much flavor. On inquiry to the waiter, we're told that customers had expressed a preference for the "new bread" as being more "flavorful". I don't know who they asked, but I am sadly disappointed, 'cause they sure didn't ask me!

So when did this travesty occur? Does anyone else think it's a travesty?
