I am writing this from Taipei, where I have become totally addicted to this popular street snack. Small pieces of tender (not rubbery like in the US!) squid are deep-fried in flour and liberally sprinked with a mixture of spices, and probably msg, too. Served in a bag with little wooden spears. There are plenty of things I'm not gonna miss about this place when I go back to Brooklyn in 2 weeks, but I'm already anticipating fried-squid-withdrawal. Does anyone know of a place, maybe in Flushing or Elmhurst, that does a just rendition of this? I remember reading a post about some amazing fried chicken at David's Taiwanese, which gave me some hope since most of the places that do squid also prepare chicken in the same way. Any suggestions? Thanks...
