Taiwan Restaurant in Berkeley

I am continue to be impressed by this place - how delicious the food for such reasonable prices. We ordered 7 dishes today for only $45.00 including tips. The place is very simple although it can hold lots of customers. Forget ambiance here.

Hot & sour soup is great. The sourness from the vinegar comes through. Nice thin slices of tofu, pork and mushrooms.

Assorted appetizer comes with tofu pork skin rolls, jelly fish and thinly sliced spiced beef. The tofu pork skin roll is actually tofu sheets rolled in the shape of cylinder with pork fillings - the whole thing is deep fried, really tasty. The jelly fish is presented like noodles - slight crunch and fresh. It also comes with sweet sour sauce in a small bowl and lots of julliened cucumber at the bottom. This dish is a winner for only $9.00

Green beans with beef: dry sauteed green beans with tender beef slices in salty oyster sauce. A bit salty but good. Only like $4 or so

Crispy prawn: good sized prawns fried with shells on with salt and pepper. Tasty for only like $4 or so

Sizzling tofu with pork: fried tofu cut in triangular shapes with julienned pork slivers and onion strips in oyster sauce. Another winner - $5 or so

Taiwan country style spareribs: spareribs in some sweet mix of spices deep fried. A bit tough for me. Not my favorite dish - $4 or so

Combination chowmein: medium sized noodles (spaghetti like) with mix of meat, bok choy and shrimps. Not bad.
