I am going to Paris next week with my partner, who I am surprising with dinner at Taillevent. For me, it will be my first two-star Michelin experience. We are celebrating and I wanted something memorable -- this is not by any means something we do often. And the great wine list will most definitely be lost on us. I am, however, hoping for a memorable pverall experience with excellent food. After reading postings on this board, I get the idea that the food is better a la carte (and I've taken notes on all your recommendations!). But, is ordering a la carte as much of an experience? Is it just apertif, amuse gueule, entree, plat, dessert, coffee and out? The tasting menu seems like it would be more of an event. I am probably being naive (because I am in this area), so any help would be appreciated. My sincere thanks!
