Well, it's not actually "new", I think it's been there nearly a year now; but I had my first taco today at Tacqueria Coatzinga, on Roosevelt between 76 and 77. I take a pretty dim view of the tacquerias in the neighborhood, is why I hadn't tried it before. Happy to say this one is a step above any of the other places in that area!
This is one of the combination full service restaurant-taco stands, like Suadero on Roosevelt further east. The kitchen is in the front of the restaurant, with a window on the street through which they transact to-go orders. I got an al Pastor, since I noticed that they had a big rotisserie standing in the front of the kitchen. (Most places around here have a tub full of pre-cut al Pastor sitting next to the grill, which does not make for a good taste experience.) Though not mind-blowing, and certainly not on the level of La Espiga (my taco yardstick), it was quite satisfying, served on a fresh tortilla and with good flavor and texture.
