Tacos La Playita - Napa

Christine Vallejo | Apr 23, 200304:24 PM

Tacos La Playita has always been our favorite taco truck in Napa. Formerly parked on Soscol, the truck moved to McKinstry (which runs parallel to Soscol near the Wine Train depot) due to road construction on Soscol. After 6:30 PM or so, the truck has been parked over in the parking lot of the old Food Fair on Jefferson and Old Sonoma Road.

Saturday evening, we were collecting a pick-up truck in Napa and thought we'd swing by the Food Fair parking lot to get some tacos. To our delight, we found that Tacos La Playita also now has a small restaurant in the shopping mini-mall. To our dismay, we waited over 45 minutes for a take-out order. The place was PACKED!

The restaurant menu features more than just tacos, tortas, and burritos available on the truck, but we'd looked forward to tacos for most of that day and that's what we ordered.

I was disappointed in that there was little flavor to my chicken tacos. My spouse said his tacos al pastor were what he was used to getting from the truck.

The restaurant opens at 10:00 daily, and maybe next time I'll try a combo plate. But I prefer to get tacos from the truck. It is kinda fun to watch the cooks in action while waiting, but it seemed to be a case of putting together one order at a time - no multi-tasking going on here.
