Tacos Jalisco/38th Ave. and Brothers BBQ/Wash. St.----DENVER

First time I've been to either place. Both were a bit of a disappointment, Brothers more so than Tacos Jalisco.

The salsas at TJ were good, beans and rice pretty standard(nothing special but okay), but the tacos deshebrada I had were skimpy on the poblano and not very flavorful. My wife fared better with her order of guacamole(very good), chile relleno(smothered in a nice pork sauce), and cheese enchilada(wasn't heated enough). Worth a return trip, but I won't get the tacos deshebrada next time.

Brothers BBQ I thought was pretty bad. The ribs weren't smoky enough and had an acrid flavor(likely something burned in the rub). The sauce that came with them on the side wasn't bad though. The pork shoulder was dried out(not an easy thing to do with pork shoulder) and had little flavor. The beans were inedibly sour. I liked the fries, my wife didn't. Agreement on the rest of the meal. They were doing a booming business though, so a lot of people apparently like their 'cue. Doubt that I'll give them a second chance.
