Checked out the new Tacos Azteca in Glendale last night. I hadn't been to the older one, but I'm on a kick lately of al pastor. My favorite so far is La Estrella on Figueroa, but I digress.
The place smelled like paint and rancid oil, which is not a good sign but I chalked it up to the fact that they are fairly new and have obviously painted recently. I spied someone else's order coming out as I ordered and I was a little bit apprehensive. The taco meat (not sure what kind of tacos they were) was in little scary-looking cubes.
My al pastor was in little cubes too, which was weird to me. It was wayyyyyy too salty and didn't have any "kick". The tacos are bigger than your average taco stand/truck tacos. They have a very interesting selection of soft drinks, and a much larger menu than I expected.
I will probably go back at some point to check out some of their more adventurous dishes, but I'll wait a few months so as to not feel like I'm inhaling paint fumes.
