Taco Truck Special....2 tacos for a buck

I have been to the depths when it comes to taco trucks, so I was quite leery when I happened upon Anita's (also named Rico's in handwriting) on East 1st Street just west of the 5-Freeway in the 1500 block. The signs on the truck said "2 Tacos, $1". All the skeptical thoughts start running through my head....what kind of meat? small could those tacos be?....etc.

There was one man behind the counter and his english was pretty good. So, I started with a pastor taco and an asada. The asada was good, not great, with the meat being a little tough and only marginally well seasoned. The pastor was very solid. Nice smoke. The green sauce on top of both was outstanding. And for 50 cents, the size of the taco was pretty good.

I dipped for more. Two lengua tacos. Excellent! The meat was lean, not fatty like a lot of those out there, and it was cooked perfectly. Then I hit the cabeza, which was good, but not great.

Hounds....two tacos for a buck? are you kidding? This truck is well worth it. Open at 11am every day. Enjoy!
