Ok, so our local Mexican restaurant makes some really great basic ground beef tacos. But the strange thing is, the meat is not heavily seasoned at all. It’s very subtle. I know they are probably boiling the meat for one thing because it’s very fine in texture. And the meat retains a juiciness to it. The meat is also still grey in color. I see no visible signs of a particular seasoning. No color other than the grey meat. No fleks of any kind of spice.
I keep guessing maybe they boil the meat in water and maybe with some beef bouillon or broth...and maybe a touch of cumin? Whatever spices they’re using, you can’t see it that’s for sure! I’ve never been bold enough to ask the restaurant owner about it. I just know my son loves them and so do I, and I’d love to be able to replicate what they’re doing at home.
Spice packets are ok but it’s getting stale. I need something new. I’ve tried other posted recipes too that still call for all kinds of spices like chili powder, cumin, garlic, onion, etc etc. I think those kinds of recipes are still too much stuff compared to what I might be looking for. If anyone can help me out, it would be much appreciated.
