I moved out of Atlanta a few years ago and recently returned. While I wanted to eat many things (flip burger, fox bros, abatoir) the thing I was craving deep down in my bones were Taco Mac Lemon pepper wings. While I like lemon pepper, taco mac had a lemon pepper sauce that wasn't a usual dry rub- it was a liquid and sort of sweet. It was amazing.
Much to my chagrin, when my order of 20 wings arrived they were just regular lemon pepper seasoning. The staff informed me the sauce was no more.
My goal now is to try and recreate this sauce somehow myself. I am looking for any input from people -chefs, former Taco Mac employees, anyone- with ideas of how to perfectly recreate this sauce. I realize it probably came in a bottle as opposed tobeing made in house but at this point I am desperate for anything- I NEED THE SAUCE!
If you have any ideas please post! I bought a giant bag of frozen wings and will be making a few every day trying different things so all input is welcome.
