Taco Grande in Fresno--Report

Sometimes you forget about great chow in your own neighborhood and eating there again is like discovering it all over. That's how hubby and I feel about Taco Grande in North Fresno. We had eaten there previously and had an excellent meal, but somehow had forgotten about that until recently.

Hubby had a craving recently for a good breakfast burrito and remembered Taco Grande. He went in looking for breakfast, but was too late for breakfast. Instead he ordered a chile verde taco and loved it! The tacos are not traditional style, more like stuff 'em until they burst style. If you order the taco grande with your choice of meat you also get whole boiled pinto beans, cheese, tomato, and avocado. It sounds weird, but it works.

I had the chicken taco grande last night and it was packed full of flavor. The chicken was smoky tasting, but still moist. All of the ingredients tasted fresh, especially the tomatoes and avocado. Hubby and I especially love the green salsa that comes with it, it has smoky undertones as well and is just the right amount of spicy. Poured on the tacos, it is the perfect complement. The tortillas are great, freshly made and they hold up to all the fillings.

You can also get more traditional style tacos here which I am sure would be outstanding. As previously mentioned, the breakfast is also worth stopping for. I want to go back and try their corn quesadilla sometime soon.

I think they also have a location in Clovis.
