Made a discovery on the weekend that perhaps was a surprise only to us. Tabüle, a Lebanese joint on Yonge just north of Davisville, is superb.
We were looking for a light pre-movie dinner. The place was packed, but instead of making us wait, the owner/hostess gave us the last free table, a four-seater that she clearly had been saving for a bigger party.
We had the green salad (fresh, with a lovely lemony dressing), fried eggplant (lightly charred on the outside, creamy on the inside - yum!), and Warak enab (AKA dolmades - stuffed vine leaves). The vine leaves, served with labni (a garlicky dip) were fresh, light and creamy -- better than anything I've had on the Danforth. Finally, the kefta kebab: moist, full of flavour, with spit-roasted veggies and fantastic Lebanese rice, which has little strands of vermicelli.
Didn't have time for dessert, but we'll be back.
